THE STATE OF LATINOS IN THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA

Collaborative processes are the key to addressing the critical challenges that confront our communities, and coalition-building efforts that emphasize the links between groups can bring about reforms to increase equity for an entire region.  We have a tremendous opportunity to bridge gaps, cross racial lines, and harness the power of our diversity and collective vision, but as Latinos from diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds who are at different stages of emigration, we must first identify our joint interests and define Greater DC Latinos priorities for regional reform.   This LFGW research initiative aims to develop a collective vision for accountability among diverse groups of Latinos across the region.  Because effective partnerships are built upon trust, consensus, and collective belief in a common purpose it is vital that LFGW regional advocacy efforts be informed by sound research which brings to bear the most critical common issues facing Latinos in our community.
